How clean are your carpets?

When moving into a new home, do you wonder how clean the carpets are? You may have noticed the condition of the carpets when viewing the house with the real estate agent. But what happens in between then and moving in can make a difference on how clean the carpets are when you move in. Also, if the previous owners had pets indoors, it may be a good idea to clean the carpets anyway. Pet dander can affect allergy sufferers.

When sellers move out of a home, many neglect having the carpets cleaned. Often in a hurry to finish the buyer’s negotiated terms, clean carpets may be the last thing on the seller’s mind. Take these easy precautions about ensuring your new home has clean carpets, which live up to your standards.

Inspect the carpet closely

First, ensure that the carpets have been vacuumed at all. Perhaps the sellers just moved their belongings out, without taking the time to vacuum the carpets. If there is noticeable dirt or pet hair, do a thorough vacuum cleaning of the carpets. Inspect the carpet along the walls to make sure no dirt or hair is lodged between the molding and the carpet edge. If so, use your vacuum’s attachments to suck up the hidden dirt or hair.
