How to Take Care of Your Carpet and Rugs

Do you want to try to extend the life of your carpet and rugs as long as possible? Considering the fact that carpeting can be quite costly to install, you certainly want to do everything you can to keep it looking and feeling great for many years. In order to make that happen, make sure to follow these five simple tips.

Tip #1: Vacuum Often

Frequently vacuuming your carpet will help reduce the amount of wear and tear that is caused by dirt. Keep in mind that dirt attracts more dirt, so you can reduce the buildup of grime by vacuuming on a regular basis.

Tip #2: Tackle Stains Right Away

The sooner you address stains, the better you will be able to get them out. In fact, the majority of stains can be removed completely if they are addressed within the first few days after they occur. The longer it stays in the carpet, however, the more difficult it will be to remove.

Tip #3: Don't Overuse Cleaners

Cleaning agents are great for getting out stains, but be certain to not overuse them. Using too much shampoo or detergent will leave residual residue that can't even be removed through thorough vacuuming.
